SKILL SHORTAGE INQUIRY COMES TO COFFS

A state government inquiry into skill shortages has been told Coffs Harbour is still recovering from the global financial crisis.
Barry Davis from the City Council told the Economic Development Committee the tough economic times were still responsible for many school leavers moving to bigger cities to find work.
Mr Davis said semi-retired people were also finding it difficult to find part time and casual jobs.
Committee Chair David Elliott says the inquiry has found in other regional areas that there’s a lack of data on skill shortages and a need for better training.
