A petition calling for the North Coast to be coal seam gas free will be debated in state parliament before the end of the year.
Member for Richmond Justine Elliot posted the petition, carrying 12,000 signatures to the Deputy Opposition Leader, Linda Burney last month.
Ms Elliot is also calling for the Nationals to explain their stance on coal seam gas exploration.
