A Newcastle environmentalist has been ordered to stand trial in the Supreme Court over a hoax email that temporarily wiped $314-million off the stockmarket value of Whitehaven Coal.
Jonathan Moylan faces a fine or up to 10 years in jail.
The 25-year-old has NOT admitted to sending the fake press release, which was designed to affect approved plans for the Maules Creek open cut mine in the Liverpool Plains.
