OFFICERS PAY TRIBUTE TO FALLEN COLLEAGUES

A moving service held in Manilla today recalled officers lost in the line of duty, as the Oxley Local Area Command commemorated Police Remembrance Day.
Acting Superintendent Jeff Budd spoke of the inherent risks of the profession, with images of fallen colleagues Senior Constable David Rixon and Sabine (SAA-BEEN) Altmann by his side.
Their family members watching on, alongside relatives of Sydney Detective Inspector Bryson Anderson, who was slain last year.
“Our profession is to confront what everyone else fears, we never turn our backs. We stand up to be counted, and we accept our lot in life.Sometimes we get dealt the joker.”
Police Chaplain Terry Logan took the opportunity to hope for a more peaceful society for the entire community.
“We pray for our society, that peace and justice may increase and that all people be able to live with integrity, dignity and mutual respect.”
