RATE HIKE ON THE HORIZON FOR LIVERPOOL PLAINS

A rate hike is looking likely for residents of the Liverpool Plains shire.
Mayor Ian Lobsey says the move is inevitable to ensure council remains financially stable heading into the future.
Earlier this year, the area was labelled ‘at risk’ by the Independent Local Government Review Panel.
Councillor Lobsey says the proposed increase in rates would amount to $2.40 or less per week on residential land, depending on the location.
Liverpool Plains Shire Council says it will provide ratepayers with details of the intended hike, and possible alternatives in the near future.
