Police have charged a 41-year-old man following a pursuit in a stolen car along the Pacific Highway at Sapphire over the weekend.
About 9pm on Saturday police saw the stolen vehicle being driven north.
Police attempted to stop the car but the driver allegedly sped up, reaching speeds of 170km/h.
A pursuit was initiated by Coffs/Clarence Highway Patrol and the vehicle was stopped using a tyre deflation device at Kungala Road, Halfway Creek.
The driver was arrested at the scene and taken to Grafton Police Station.
He was due to face court today.
