Australian wheelchair racing ace Kurt Fearnley has fallen agonisingly short of winning his fifth New York marathon.
Sitting front and centre at the start, Fearnley was soon locked inside a pack of five.
In the end, the Novocastrian couldn’t chase down long time rivals Ernst van Dyk from South Africa and eventual winner, Marcel Hug from Switzerland, in what he’s described as a cracking battle.
It certainly left Fearnley a little peckish – he’s since tweeted a photo of himself tucking into the latest Big Apple craze, a ‘cronut’… that’s part donut, part croissant.
