A Tamworth man miraculously escaped injury yesterday when an explosion tore through his home, just hours after he returned from an overseas trip.
After discovering a small fire in the residence, the man went outside to call emergency services… moments later, a gas bottle went up.
Nearby residents say they heard a loud bang, before the whole neighbourhood shook.
Fire crews were quick to contain the blaze.
Forensic investigators will now examine the scene.
