Council has rezoned a section of land at Whitebridge to stop homes being built next to the popular Fernleigh Track.
The state government had sold three blocks of land, once destined for a bypass, to developers, raising concerns the area would be overrun with homes.
Now council has rezoned the remaining land at Lonus Avenue, changing it from residential to conservation.
