ELDERLY WOMAN RECOVERING IN TAMWORTH HOSPITAL AFTER DAYLIGHT MUGGING

An elderly Tamworth woman is recovering in hospital after she was mugged yesterday afternoon.
The 79-year-old was leaving the City Plaza carpark on White Street at about 4pm when she was passed by a group of four males.
One of them approached her from behind, grabbing her handbag and pushing her to the ground.
“The male who stole the handbag is described as of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, wearing a white shirt with green and blue stripes, dark brown hair with a small pony tail, similar to a rats tail and a cap.”
The woman suffered a broken shoulder and head injuries.
