Smokers will no longer be able to light up on beaches in the Hastings, with the launch of the next phase of council’s Smoke Free Outdoor Areas Policy.
The focus will initially be on the region’s patrolled beaches and others including Shelly Beach and Pilot Beach.
“If people are smoking on beaches there is a possibility they will be fined so we’re hoping that people don’t take the risk and that the general community let them know that it is a no smoking area.”
