An elderly woman lost her home and all of her belongings less than a week out from Christmas, when her house was gutted by fire at Lake Macquarie this afternoon.
16 firefighters arrived at the Hall Street home at Edgeworth shortly after midday, only to find the weatherboard home well alight.
It’s believed the fire began at the rear of the home.
Neighbouring properties were evacuated as a precaution.
