BEACHES BEAT THE BAY IN THE NHRU

NHRU
Round 5
WANDERERS 73 – UNIVERSITY 8
MEREWETHER 34 – EASTS 5
THE WARATAHS 28 – LAKE MACQUARIE 11
HAMILTON 22 – MAITLAND 14
SOUTHERN BEACHES 41 – NELSON BAY 19

In Newcastle and Hunter Rugby, Wanderers have continued their undefeated season, hammering the Students.
In other games, Merewether belted Easts and The Tahs overcame the Roos.
The Hawks returned to their winning ways against Maitland, while Beaches beat the Bay.
Beaches made a bright start, leading 12-nil early on, before the Bay hit back through Chad Northcott.
Lochie Wade avoided plenty of defenders down the left to set up Kane Quinlan, who still had plenty of work to do, as Southern Beaches re-established a healthy buffer.
Nelson Bay started the day in fourth spot, the next try showed why the Gropers are a threat this season, with Michael Bureta crossing to get them back into the contest.
In the end it wouldn’t be enough, as Beaches won by 22.
