TRUCK CARRYING LIVE CHICKENS CRASHES ON M1
There is still a seven kilometre queue heading northbound on the M1 at West Wallsend after a truck crash earlier this morning.
Just after 2:30, the truck, which was carrying a load of live chickens, ran onto the median strip and then the guard rail at O’Donnelltown Road.
During peak hour traffic, a queue of 12 kilometres was reached on the northbound lanes.
Emergency services and the RSPCA attended the scene to assist with the clean up.
One lane remains closed in each direction.
