Design works and the preliminary construction of a new water treatment plant south of Taree, will begin in the next financial year.
MidCoast Water has allocated more than $3-million to the Nabiac borefields project, which aims to provide water security to Manning and Great Lakes customers, while also reducing demand on Bootawa Dam.
The utility has outlined its plans for the coming year in its Draft Operational Plan, which is now on public exhibition.
Residents have until June 5 to comment.
