POLICE FORCED TO JUMP OUT OF PATH OF MOVING VEHICLE
Police were forced to jump out of the path of a moving car at Murwillumbah yesterday, after they witnessed the driver allegedly performing burnouts.
Officers approached the car on Queen Street, when the 30-year-old driver allegedly reversed towards the officers.
The vehicle then hit another car, containing an elderly couple.
Officers called for assistance, where it’s alleged the vehicle then reversed towards police again.
The driver was eventually removed from the car after a struggle.
The driver was taken to hospital for mandatory testing and later charged with a number of offences including assaulting police and performing burnouts.
He was refused bail to face Byron Bay Local Court today.
