BUSHFIRE AFFECTED RESIDENTS TO GET WATER REBATE
Residents who racked up hefty water bills while defending their homes during the October bushfires last year, will be given a rebate.
Wyong Council says it’ll be based on daily water usages and capped at $35 per household.
Mayor Doug Eaton says the New South Wales Government had promised to cover the cost, similar to deals already honoured in Lake Macquarie and the Blue Mountains.
But he says Council’s yet to be given the money, so it will foot the bill itself for now.
