Scott Donaldson has been rescued after abandoning his quest to kayak solo from Australia to New Zealand.
The 43-year-old was airlifted to New Plymouth in New Zealand, after he sustained face and chest injuries when his kayak rolled three times.
He left Coffs Harbour mid-April and today gave up his trip, about 83 kilometres offshore.
It was his second attempt to cross the Tasman.
