A three-year-old has been hailed a hero after a fire that destroyed a Comboyne home early on Sunday morning.
At around 12:30, the little boy alerted his parents and two siblings to the blaze, which had engulfed the Thone Street home.
“The little boy of the family, he actually woke the whole family up so he’s the hero”
Firefighters say it was a lucky escape, as the building gave way just moments after the family had left.
Strong wind conditions meant the fire proved difficult to extinguish, and crews were still monitoring the property late this morning.
Police are investigating the cause of the blaze.
