Taree council has voted to defer a decision on whether historic stables in Wingham should be demolished.
The stables were damaged by strong winds earlier this year.
Councillors have referred the matter to the Strategic Heritage Advisory Committee for more information on how best to handle the issue.
“They will come back with some suggestions on how we might be able to approach it, they will consult with various people, potentially the owners as well and we’ll just see where we can go to.”
A decision will be made on September 17.
