An Inverell man will front court today charged with the alleged sexual assault of an 11-year-old boy.
Earlier this month, the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad began investigating after reports the boy was sexually abused by a man known to him.
Police swooped on a home in Inverell yesterday afternoon, where they arrested the alleged perpetrator.
The 44-year-old was taken to Inverell Police Station where he was charged with a number of offences including two counts of aggravated sexual intercourse with a child.
Police allege the abuse occurred on multiple occasions throughout April.
The man is due to appear in Tamworth Local Court later today.
