– Former Prime Minister Julia Gillard has taken the witness box at the Royal Commission into Union Corruption, quizzed over allegations she set up a “slush fund” with one time boyfriend, ex-boss Bruce Wilson.
– Beaches at Byron Bay remain closed, but some are still swimming following the death of 50-year-old swimmer Paul Wilcox in a shark attack yesterday. Newcastle solicitor Mark Hickey has been praised for his bravery in swimming out to retrieve Mr Wilcox despite the shark lurking.
– A 44-year-old man is still missing after his wife and their three children were found shot dead at a rural farmhouse near Lockhart in the NSW Riverina.
– And the Australian navy may have found the Wreck of an Australian submarine that was lost in waters off Papua New Guinea a hundred years ago. They’re investigating weather the contact is that of the missing AE1.
