The ICAC’s Operation Spicer wraps up in Sydney tomorrow, with developers Jeff McCloy and Hilton Grugeon, along with Port Stephens MP Craig Baumann returning to the witness box.
Federal MP Bob Baldwin has been drawn into the inquiry, due to a letter he wrote to Chris Hartcher, the-then state energy minister.
Mr Baldwin urged three ministers to support Nathan Tinkler’s coal terminal on the former BHP site.
He responded today, saying it’s part of his role as an MP.
“We need to get more coal out of the port of Newcastle to create more jobs in the Hunter. I make no apologies for supporting jobs in my region, in fact I write hundreds of thousands of letters in my time as a member of parliament supporting individual businesses and companies.”
Mr Baldwin also sent the letter to Tinkler’s Buildev Group Director, who thanked him, saying the letter looks good.
