The Gold Coast has fallen well short of making a new world record at the coast’s biggest pool party…
Over 1500 people made their first splash at the new Aquatic Centre, hoping to break the Guiness World Record for the number of people wearing bathing caps in the same place.
But they were 517 people short.
It was all part of the centre’s official opening, which saw the Mayor swap his suit to budgie smugglers, for the 50 metre celebrity race.
“I Know exactly how the 50 metre feels, because I’m buggered, don’t know if I’m meant to use the word buggered but that’s what it feels.”
