32 JOBS TO GO AT PORT WARATAH COAL
Port Waratah Coal Services has announced it will cut another 32 jobs at its Newcastle operations.
Contractors, operators and trades positions will be affected by the latest round of redundancies.
The company’s CEO Hennie du Plooy says the decision was made to improve efficiency during the current market climate.
“We recognise the impact of changes like this on people and therefore don’t make these decisions lightly,” he said.
“Industry demand for Port Waratah’s coal handling services remains high but it is important that we position our business to support the sustainability of the coal chain as a whole.”
The announcement comes after the loss of 34 jobs in July.
