NEW MEASURES TO CONTROL FLYING FOX POPULATIONS
Environment Minister Rob Stokes has responded to the north west’s call for a solution to a bat infestation on the MacIntyre River at Inverell, allowing the removal of vegetation in heavily populated areas.
A draft policy states landowners are allowed to disturb colonies using noise, water, smoke or light.
It follows the submission of a petition with 10,000 signatures to parliament by Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall in May.
