MAN CHARGED AFTER ALLEGED ATTACK ON BUS DRIVER
A 28-year-old Waratah man has been charged after he allegedly attacked a bus driver in Raymond Terrace.
Just before 6pm yesterday, the 44-year-old driver spoke to two passengers about their use of offensive language during a trip from the Hunter Valley to Port Stephens.
One of the men got off at the next stop in Raymond Terrace.
When the driver asked the second man to leave, he was allegedly punched and hit over the head with a full bottle of alcohol.
Police say the man continued to assault the driver after he fell to the floor.
He was chased to Parkway Avenue before officers arrived.
It’s alleged he also threatened them with a knife, but dropped the weapon after police drew their gun.
The man is due to face Raymond Terrace Local Court today.
