Mining company Glencore has welcomed planning approval for the expansion of its Bulga mine in the Upper Hunter.
It comes after extensive consulatation with the Broke and Milbrodale communities, and a Planning Commission hearing at Singleton earlier this year.
Glencore is required to meet strict noise and dust conditions, and reduce impacts on the nearby villages.
The approval extends the mine’s operating licence until 2035, and is expected to bring positive flow-on effects for the local economy.
