THOUSANDS TURN OUT TO PROTEST BROADWATER DEVELOPMENT
Thousands of Gold Coasters descended upon Southport today, protesting against what could become the biggest regional tourism project in Australia.
ASF Consortium plans to transform Wavebreak Island into a seven and a half billion dollar cruise ship terminal…complete with a glitzy 50 storey high rise, hotels, restaurants, and a bridge connecting to Labrador.
“I’m concerned that there hasn’t been proper studies about the environmental impacts so far, and that seems to be being glossed over by the govenrment.”
The group behind the plans, says an environmental impact study is the next step…
“At this stage of the project we don’t have all the answers and we will be working with the coommunity, undertaking appropriate engineering and technical studies to ensure that there’s a net environmental benefit for the Gold Coast.”
