NURSE FACES COURT CHARGED WITH MURDER

A 27-year-old nurse from Newcastle has faced court charged with two counts or murder and another of attempted murder, after the deaths of two elderly nursing home residents.

Garry Davis of Redhead was arrested at his home by detectives from Strike Force Correa this morning and taken to Newcastle police station where he was charged.

In October 2013, Ryan Kelly and Gwen Fowler died from a suspected insulin overdose at Wallsend’s Summitcare.

A 91-year-old woman was also hospitalised with insulin poisoning, but survived.

Davis was supported by family during a very brief court appearance on Wednesday afternoon.

He didn’t apply for bail and will reappear in court on Friday.

  1. Thank you Newcastle Detectives! My mother is in that nursing home and I know the detectives have been working tirelessly to apprehend the culprit. I hope we get to hear why he would do such a thing. The staff in my mother’s wing are wonderful, caring people.
