ORANGE ARMY INUNDATED AFTER HEAVY RAINFALL

Residents caught off guard by a deluge of summer rain, on the Queensland and New South Wales border have spent the day mopping up.

By nine this morning, Tweed Heads copped 292 milimetres of rain…

Another 30 milimetres fell by this afternoon.

Flooded roads, houses and leaky roofs have kept the Orange Army busy since midnight.

“The biggest job we’ve had so far has been a large pump out which we got the NSW Fire Brigade to assist us with.”

“This is probably the most active we’ve been in the past 12 months.”

Coolangatta recorded 153 milimetres overnight.

A number of flights into the Gold Coast airport were diverted to Brisbane.
