Renew Newcastle could be forced to cut its programs this year, because of a lack of funding.
The state government has announced the not-for-profit organisation will receive $120,000 in 2015 – which includes the $30,000 already promised by Newcastle Council.
General Manager of Renew Newcastle, Christopher Saunders, says that means the state is only contributing $90,000 – a 40 per cent reduction on previous years.
He says while he’s yet to fully understand the implications for Renew Newcastle, the apparent drop in funding is disappointing.
