A shark sighting this morning has kept beaches along Newcastle closed, with Redhead Beach now added to the list of closures.
A helicopter pilot spotted the shark between Merewether and Burwood beaches at about 9:30am, around the same area where a dolphin was mauled yesterday.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter has patrolled the coastline throughout the morning.
Surf life savers are also keeping a look out on jet skis, IRBs and with binoculars from patrol towers.
