The summer break is over for the Greater Northern Academy rugby league squads, as they build towards matches next month.
Coaches ramped up the intensity at training, focussing on contact work.
Despite training hard, coaches say they don’t want to overload the players.
“Not just rugby league, they play touch and some of them rugby union for school and many other different sports, so a very big work load. So yeah, it’s about managing that and it’s something the kids need to look at as well in managing their bodies.”
They’ll play the Newcastle Knights juniors on February 21.
