DODT TAKES OUT THAILAND CLASSIC

Hunter-based golfer Andrew Dodt has produced a flawless final round at the Thailand Classic to win the $2.5-million tournament by one shot.

The 29-year-old carded five birdies in his 67, then faced a nervous wait on the 18th.

Local favourite Thongchai Jaidee needed this putt to drop, to force a playoff.

“Cheering and yelling then commentator saying ‘No, not to be.”

The tournament – which is part of the European Tour – is Dodt’s first win in four years, and comes after he had to endure qualifying school last November.

“To be honest losing my card two years ago was the best thing that could’ve happened to me. It’s unbelievable, a dream come true.”
