Sacked Newcastle skipper Kew Jaliens has been thrown a lifeline by Melbourne City.
Jaliens has signed a replacement deal of at least six weeks, with the injury riddled club. One of those injuries is to star import Damien Duff, who is expected to miss the rest of the A-League season with a leg and ankle injury.
Jaliens was jettisoned with four other senior Jets players,after clashing with new coach Phil Stubbins.
