TAMWORTH RETAILERS FORCED TO FORK OUT FOR ABANDONED TROLLEYS

In a bid to clean up Tamworth’s CBD, council has begun impounding abandoned trolleys.

Council wrote to all major retailers in December last year informing them trolley patrols would begin in February.

Retailers are now being forced to pay a fee of $70 per trolley before they are released.

It comes after residents claimed abandoned trolleys were a safety hazard for pedestrians.
