Newcastle Jets coach Phil Stubbins has sidestepped a pre-match battle of words ahead of this weekend’s F3 derby.
Yesterday Mariners captain John Hutchinson baited the club over its less than favourable form, but Stubbins was only full of praise for the Central Coast icon.
“John’s been at it now for quite some time, he’s always somebody who’s stood up for his own club. And I think as captain he needs to be commended for his efforts for the Central Coast Mariners.”
The Mariners are coming off the back of a 4-2 loss to Sydney FC, but took plenty of positives out of their attacking performance.
“Certainly Ferreira was a constant threat in the side of Sydney FC there, we’re gonna have to be on our mettle again as i’ve said before, and they’ve certainly got some threats in their team.”
