Hunter residents armed themselves with garbage bags today to take part in the National Clean Up Australia Day.
Young and old pulled on their gloves to help clean up different sites across the region – including Newcastle’s Throsby Creek.
In its 25th year, volunteers have removed an estimated 280,000 tonnes of rubbish nationwide.
