Three levels of government have committed more than $400,000 to upgrade Tamworth roads surrounding the saleyards.
Phoenix Street will have three intersections widened along a kilometre stretch between Goddard Lane and the Livestock Exchange.
The work should to allow farmers to load more cattle onto each load, earning up to $400 more per trip.
