FULL RESPONSE FROM NEWCASTLE CITY COUNCIL REGARDING A SEPARATE ILLEGAL DUMPING SITE FOUND IN JANUARY AT BERESFIELD:
Council officers have met with RMS and toured the site with them. The site is a very large tract of land with rubbish dumped in various locations so the first steps are to survey the site to identify all the areas where rubbish has been dumped and to get the site secured. Most of the land involved belongs to RMS however rubbish has also been dumped on some adjacent Council property. Both Council and RMS intend to remove the rubbish from the site and have plans in place to do so. This is a big job due to the size of the parcel of land and it will also be weather dependent so at this time we do not have a specific timeframe for completion of the clean-up.
