A push for harsher penalties for animal cruelty offenders is gaining momentum, following the killing of nine puppies near Kurri last week.
The campaign, led by local animal activists, encourages the community to rally outside East Maitland courthouse when Nathan Thompson is sentenced in April.
Thompson pleaded guilty to charges of animal cruelty, and faces up to five years in prison.
