Country Rugby League officials are considering creating a new eight-team competition involving top clubs from the Hunter, Central Coast and Wollongong.
Real NRL clubs have been informed of the proposal, but all parties admit there’s still a long way to go.

Mitchell Hughes started as a tape editor in Newcastle in 1999. He became a reporter in 2004, working in Lismore and on the Gold Coast.
