WEATHER: WINTER A STEP CLOSER

The first snow of the season has fallen on the Central Tablelands at Oberon and Orange this afternoon, as an intense low spirals over southern New South Wales and Victoria.

This will pump cold, dry air north. It will get windy with gale wind warnings issued for the Hunter and strong wind warnings elsewhere.

Expect some very cold nights and frosty mornings, but it will be mostly sunny for the next couple of days until coastal showers settle in at the end of the week.
