The lake has been a putrid sesspool when closed for decades.
The only time it resembles a healthy lagoon is when open to the ocean.
Simple solution? keep it open!
The lake needs to be opened more often and maybe if it was dredged so that it is deeper this may not happen next time as there would be sufficient water left for the fish to survive.
