COUNTDOWN ON TO SCONE CUP CARNIVAL

The build-up to this week’s Scone Cup Carnival has begun.

A record 439 runners have nominated for 16 races across Friday and Saturday, competing for almost $2-million in prizemoney.

Gai Waterhouse and Chris Waller are just some of the leading trainers to put forward entries for Friday’s $200,000 Scone Cup.

The stand-alone Saturday event will feature the $400,000 Inglis Guineas, and the Group Three Dark Jewel Classic.

Mitchell Hughes started as a tape editor in Newcastle in 1999. He became a reporter in 2004, working in Lismore and on the Gold Coast.
