Gwydir Shire residents can expect to fork out more in council rates next financial year, with the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal approving a one-off 15 per cent rate increase.
Council had originally requested a 32.25 per cent increase over two-years, but was denied by IPART because of lack of community consultation.
The 15 per cent increase includes the 2.4 per cent rate peg.
Gwydir Shire Council was one of 22 councils state-wide approved for a special rate variation.
