The life of a hard working volunteer was remembered in Soldiers Point today, with family and friends gathering to unveil a memorial in his honour.
John Eckersley spent 20 years working tirelessly with the local landcare group, he died in 2013.
Clean Up Australia founder Ian Kiernan joined the ceremony, and says he’s proud of the community’s efforts to take care of the environment.
“it’s a great reward for me to come to an event like this and see the strength of the community and exactly what you’re doing.”
Landcare is currently halfway into a six year project to rehabilitate the area’s native vegetation.
