Wet weather may have led to a drop in donations during the weekend’s Red Shield Appeal, but the Salvation Army’s Tamworth branch remains hopeful the community will continue to give generously.
The organisation aims to raise $30,000 each year, and although two schools and regular collectors braved wet weather, only $5,000 was collected.
In an attempt to boost donations, door knocking will take place again in two weeks.
“We have a group of children from Farrer High School, they’re going to go out on Sunday the 14th and knock on the doors on our behalf asking for donations for the Red Shield Appeal.”
