COUNCIL PURSUES CENTRAL COAST UNI DESPITE LACK OF SUPPORT
Wyong Council will continue to push for a stand-alone Central Coast university, despite the idea failing to attract majority support at a regional council meeting overnight.
The campaign for a regional uni gained traction this week after Wyong Mayor, Doug Eaton, suggested the University of Newcastle’s Ourimbah campus could be used as a base for an independent institution.
The idea has support from Gosford Council, however the University of Newcastle says it has no plans to relinquish the campus.
Wyong Council will revisit the idea at its next council meeting.
